Today's photo is a screenshot with a twist. It's a Finder menu from OS X Leopard, the Go menu to be precise. As I was discussing this image with Jan earlier today, we went over some of the artefacts that are visible in this image. You can see some JPG compression artefacts and slight chromatic aberration in the left slanted edge of the menu. It's not a 100% smooth line if you look closely enough (the anti-aliasing isn't perfect).
Secondly, if you look closely at some of the letters in the menu you might get the impression that the same two effects are happening there. Just look at the 'i' and 'l' in Utilities. You can clearly see the blue and purple colored pixels near the edge of each letter. Although JPG compression and chromatic aberration are most likely responsible for some of the effect, a large part of it is due to the operating system itself applying anti-aliasing routines to smooth out the fonts onscreen. If you happen to have OS X, you can use CTRL + the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in on the screen and notice the effect for yourself.
And no, I'm usually not this big a pixel peeper, but since I was photographing pixels I figured I might bring it up anyway :P

I just checked my Go menu zoomed in and see what you mean! Now get back to editing photos and quit worrying about your desktop.

@Jason Kravitz: Good remark. Sometimes I'm a bit too anal about this whole photography thing :)
lol! Kravitz is funny. Interesting observation you have here.

i like this shot, i'm not sure exactly why, since i don't usually like shots people take of computer screens at all, but i actually like this.
