Yellow core

The two previous posts were already taken with my newest lens: the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 micro (why they decided to use that instead of simply calling it 'macro' is beyond me). But this photo is my first attempt at getting closer to the tiny world around us. I admit that using a tripod is probably the first requirement when doing macro work, but I didnt't have mine with me at that time so I had to go handheld.

That's basically the reason why I went with ISO800. As you can see in the image, even at an aperture of f/13 the depth of field when shooting with a 105mm lens and at such close distances is extremely shallow. 1/100s is probably the slowest i could have gone since image stabilisation (Vibration Reduction or VR in Nikon speak) doesn't work reliably anymore this close up.

Plus, the theme fits in nicely with the nice weather we're having around these parts :D
